My contract at World First in 2008 provided some interesting challenges that let to my eventual appointment to the role of Head of ICT, leading a team of 10 for 2 years.

I faced a number of challenges in this role:-

• When I took over my first task was to manage out a poorly performing staff member, following though disciplinary processes whilst trying to keep departmental moral up.
• Throughout my time as head of ICT I had to deal with the conflict that results from a department staffed by many nationalities, experience levels and the egos that exist from employing highly intelligent staff.
• I followed a process of allowing "controlled innovation".
