AJAX / Web 2.0

I believe in the Web 2.0 philosphy, but feel that there is (was) a lot of hype around the idea - giving the impression of revolution rather than evolution and AJAX is a good example.

There are, however, Web API's that have created new standards (like embedding google maps on /contact-us/ pages)

(A group of inter-related existing web development methods rather than a revolutionary new way of creating websites)
